The FloodBreak® barrier is a bespoke, automatic floodgate with unlimited scope to protect major infrastructure by using the passive, hydrostatic pressure of the water to deploy.
FloodBreak® barriers can be permanently installed across any vulnerable flood path and since they do not deploy except in a flood situation, they allow 24/7 access to any premises without disruption.
The FloodBreak® barrier minimises the risk of flood to ground level or underground structures. The barrier comprises a buoyant composite beam which is engineered to withstand extreme hydrostatic pressure and hydrodynamic loading.
Once installed across an opening or other flood path, it is activated by the approach of the rising flood waters. Its foolproof operating system automatically floats and lifts upwards and seals the opening with a self-activating flange.
The barrier is held shut by the water and will not open until the flood recedes, at which time it will automatically return to its resting position, allowing free passage once again.
